Sarah Cook designs and handcrafts unique jewelry from sterling silver, brass and a variety of both metal and ribbon mesh. Her pieces are influenced by geometric shapes and architectural elements which lends to the clean and modern look of her work.
The name of her company Wild Porcupine Designs was established after a friend’s visit out to Seattle. Sitting around the kitchen table one night he launched into a story about the porcupines he has visiting him at his home which is located in the backwoods of Maine. Struggling with a clever name to call her company at the time of his visit, the timing of the story could not have been better and Wild Porcupine Designs was conceived!
Sarah was born and raised in Milwaukee Wisconsin and was influenced by her mother who was an artist and the best mom you could ever have! She taught Sarah the importance of form, color and composition which were important skills to know when it came to creating her jewelry. After leaving her hometown in WI Sarah moved around and experienced living in different cities around the US until she fell in love with Seattle, WA where she has lived for the past 16 years.
Sarah has been a student at the Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, WA and continues to improve and learn new metalsmithing techniques whenever possible.
